Summary

Plato: Ion

In large cultures, it is understood that classical texts are retranslated every few years, and when a new translation of a classical work appears in a small culture, it is already a true intellectual feast. Plato's famous dialogue Ion is one of Plato's fiercest attacks on poets and poetry - although it is important to remember that he was not gentle in other places either - but as it happens in the irony of history and contrary to the author's intentions, this small dialogue is, at the same time, one of the most beautiful monuments to poetry and poets.

The book is equipped with an instructive preface by the French expert in ancient philosophy Jean-Francois Pradeau, comments that facilitate reading, then Marsilio Ficino's text on Ijon (translated by Noel Putnik), Goethe's text on Plato (translated by Jelena Savić), and two texts by the translator herself, Divna Stevanović-Soleil.
