Summary
Slavoj Žižek: Live Theory
Slavoj Žižek is undoubtedly one of the world's leading cultural critics. His witty, psychoanalytically inspired analyzes of contemporary society almost single-handedly revived the concept of ideology. His brilliant commentaries on the French psychoanalyst Jacques Lacan and the German idealists of the 19th century brought their often difficult ideas to life for a new generation of readers. But does Žižek have anything to say for himself? Is there a system of thought that we can rightly call "Žižekian"? This book argues that there is, through a reading of two concepts in his work - the master-signifier and the act. Along with an interview with Žižek himself, the book "Slavoj Žižek: Live Theory" presents an overview of Žižek's system ideal for undergraduate students of social and cultural theory and philosophy.
