Steve Turner: The Man Called Cash the Life, Love and Faith of an American Legend
Authorized Biography An interesting biographical book about one of the greatest American music legends, Johnny Cash. Johnny Cash is usually said to have been a country legend, but his music transcends all stylistic and temporal categories, trends and generations - there is hardly any fan of heavy metal, hip hop, or punk who did not listen to and respect him. The man in black was unique: in addition to his extraordinary music and deep, striking voice, he also attracted attention with his turbulent life, so well depicted in the biographical film Walking on the Edge. This authorized, richly illustrated and documented biography goes beyond the film: it follows him from his birth, his maturation as a man and an artist to his well-deserved fame; his faith and the loves of his life, describing in detail all the trials and detours he went through. Author Steve Turner is a well-known name in rock nonfiction. In his journalistic career, he collaborated with the most respected newspapers (Rolling Stone, New Musical Express, Mojo, Q...), interviewed the biggest rock names (Lennon, Richards, Clapton, Bowie, Reed, Zappa...), and published a dozen books, among others about Van Morrison, Marvin Gaye, Jack Kerouac, Eric Clapton, and the Beatles and U2. Here, with a few sentences, we would like to highlight the foreword by Kris Kristofferson, Cash's great friend and admirer: "Johnny Cash is a true American hero who rose from poverty similar to that in which Abraham Lincoln lived, and became a friend and inspiration to prisoners and presidents - a person who is respected and loved throughout the world for his courage, integrity and true love for his fellow men. Like Muhammad Ali, he was greater than his calling for which the world gave him its attention, and his was a spirit beyond the usual stardom. But he was a wonderful, charming human being. I heard that when he met John - I think it was at the Newport Folk Festival - he bowed slightly and smiled at him. It's a reaction that anyone who ever met him can relate to..."
