Summary
Casper Howeler: Musical Lexicon
It is difficult, and it seems even impossible, to find a sufficiently comprehensive title to present a work as complex as this combination of a musical lexicon, a guide through symphonic, oratorio, chamber and opera music; after all, the author himself, the prominent Dutch musicologist Casper Howeler, was satisfied with the quite vague title X-Y-Z der Muziek. However, this did not at all prevent such a well-conceived piece from experiencing numerous editions in a short period of time, and also penetrating countries with such rich musical literature as, for example, Germany and France.
