History of music from the Baroque to the present day
After the success of the Croatian edition of the 1st volume of the "Atlas of Music" (2004), which presented the systematic part (The science of instruments, The science of music, Types and forms) and the historical part from the beginnings of music, through antiquity and the Middle Ages to the Renaissance, a second volume is now available in which Michels and Vogel present the history of music from the Baroque in words and pictures until the late 20th century.
From the prehistoric monuments of musical culture to our days, the "Atlas of Music" takes us on a journey through the theory and history of music with words and pictures. Zahvaljujući jedinstvenom spoju teksta i ilustracija - tekst kontinuirano i usporedno prate grafički prikazi (više od 200 crteža u boji, tablice, notni primjeri) - postao je nezaobilazno štivo za stručnjake, studente i ljubitelje glazbe. The book also includes a rich bibliography and an exhaustive index of terms and persons.
Music lovers, reproductive artists, music theorists and students, teachers and students will also receive a much-needed handbook in the second part of this lexicon, which still represents an unparalleled model of clarity and systematic presentation.
Prof. Dr. Ulrich Michels (1938) studied music, musicology and German studies. Since 1972, he has been teaching at the Staatlichen Hochschule für Musik and at the University of Karlsruhe. Publishes musicological articles and monographs.
