Summary
Jacqueline Nacache: Actor on film
Most of the cinematographic literature, not very diverse: Interviews, albums, biographies or memoirs is devoted to actresses and actors. The actor likes to show off and talk about himself; even behind the scenes, he participates in the spectacle and performance, glamor and anecdotes. No wonder that in such a context, research on the acting profession still lacks a clear understanding.
It is obvious that filmmakers and critics, much more than theorists, observed, evaluated and most often rejected the actor. The aim of this work is less focused on studying the contribution of the acting profession to film art, and more on creating a legitimate terrain for thinking about it.
The approach to film actors and actresses in this book is a reflection of the French school of thought; many views about the actor are provocative and lead to bold thinking about the topic, and should be understood as a stimulus and invitation to debate.
