Summary
Louis-Ferdinand Celine: London
Louis-Ferdinand Céline (1894-1961), one of the greatest writers of the 20th century, was born and raised in Paris, but life threw him here and there, from the horrors of war to Africa and America, which he talks about in the novel Journey to the End of the Night, which made him famous. Céline's style is what sets him apart from other great writers of our time and perhaps only Thomas Bernhard can compare to him. A few years ago, long-thought-lost manuscripts, The War and London, about the events leading up to the Voyage were found. London is a sequel to the novel War (LOM/Laguna, 2024) and they form an inseparable whole. Selin wrote both novels in the early thirties of the 20th century, at the time when Journey to the End of the Night was published, and before us is a genius at his peak. This is one of the first translations of the novel London in the world.
