History of the Croatian language, 3rd book: 17th and 18th centuries
The third book of the History of the Croatian language describes the historical development of the Croatian language in the 17th and 18th centuries, with a description of the development of Croatian dialects and the Croatian literary language. At the beginning of the book, academician Radoslav Katičić writes about the Croatian language in the 17th and 18th centuries, trying to encompass it "with one view" and at the same time he emphasizes that it is not at all an easy task because there is too much "diversity, various events, and these are different periods both as ideological atmospheres and as stylistic formations." Croatian dialect is described by prof. Ph.D. Josip Lisac showing their basic characteristics, development and distribution and the circumstances in which they develop. Prof. Ph.D. Sanja Vulić writes about the Štokavian Croatian literary language in the 17th century, and prof. Ph.D. Loretana Farkaš Brekalo about the Štokavian Croatian literary language in the 18th century. The Kajkavian Croatian literary language is presented by Ph.D. Barbara Štebih Golub, Chakavian Croatian literary language doc. Ph.D. Ivica Vigato, and academician Josip Bratulić writes about the language of Croatian business texts. Prof. writes about Croatian letters and spellings.
