Summary

Ivo Pilar: Struggle for the value of one's "self" - an experiment in the philosophy of Slavic individualism

There are three general goals towards which the author of the work tried to direct attention. The first one refers to the actualization of the knowledge that Pilar, among other things, also engaged in psychological analyses. The second relates to the actualization of the knowledge that he wrote a work that some classify as his main author's achievements, on the basis of which he can be attributed with sufficient theoretical justification from a contemporary psychological perspective the attribute of one of the pioneers of the development of psychology, and especially social psychology in Croatia. The third relates to the actualization of knowledge about Pilar's tendency to apply theoretical achievements in practice, and this is an approach that began to develop in the social sciences only in the second half of the twentieth century. More precise critical evaluations of Pilar's enumerated contributions that can be classified within the framework of scientific psychology are yet to follow. However, it should be emphasized at the end that it can be stated with sufficient certainty that with the systematic silence of Pilar, Croatian psychology lost a referential and hypothetical foothold that, at the time of the work's creation, placed it on the European level.
