Summary
Andrej Žmegač: Bastions of continental Croatia
The book Bastions of continental Croatia is dedicated to bastions or bastion complexes on the soil of continental Croatia, as buildings that in the period from the 16th to the 18th century represented the characteristic and most important elements of fortification architecture.
Processing this important part of Croatian monumental heritage, the study consists of two larger parts. The first, as an exclusively textual part, provides information on the periods of construction, the main features and specific characteristics of these forts, their place in the European context and doubtful cases of some buildings, which may not be within the framework of the given topic or fund of Croatian bastions. The second part is actually a catalog, which offers readers an overview of the fortifications of continental Croatia and basic information about them, together with associated photographs, old floor plans or drawings.
