Due to the controversy about the nationality of Herceg-Bosnia
Dominik Mandić and Krunoslav Draganović are considered the best experts on Bosnia and Herzegovina in Croatian historiography. It was not possible to freely write about the history of those two provinces from the "unification" in 1918 until the fall of the communist government in Yugoslavia. Therefore, these two treatises were written sometimes under a pseudonym, sometimes published in exile.
