Donat Fabijanić: La Dalmazia ne primi cinque secoli del cristianesimo
Donat Fabijanić, historian (Pag, 17. XII. 1808 — Zadar, 8. IV. 1890). He was educated in the Franciscan monastery of Vela Gospa in Pag, and finished his studies in philosophy and theology in Zadar. He belonged to the contemporary Zadar cultural circle, corresponded with N. Tommase and F. von Suppé and was a member of the Accademia della Crusca. Studied the history of the Franciscans in Istria, Dalmatia, the Republic of Dubrovnik, Bosnia and Herzegovina from the beginning to his own time, contributing to the knowledge of the activities of the Order, the past of its monasteries, artistic heritage, prominent individuals and monuments and books. The first described in detail the history of the monastery of St. Frane in Zadar, and he also wrote about the beginnings of Christianity in Dalmatia, scientific and literary heritage and more famous contemporaries. He also wrote a travelogue, in which he describes the landscapes from Karin and Novigrad to Kraljičina vrata on Velebit, warning of the significance of the future road over Velebit for the Dalmatian economy.
