Summary
Zvonimir Despot, Danijel Tatić: The idea of a Greater Serbia from Ilija Garašanin to Tomislav Nikolić
l while many in Croatia and beyond already thought and expected that the idea of a Greater Serbia had somewhat died out among the Serbian intelligentsia, among Serbian politicians and other public workers, the idea that led to great human sacrifices and then genocide in the southeast of Europe in the 20th century, it entered our midst again through the big gates. It was reintroduced into the public space by the new President of the Republic of Serbia, Tomislav Nikolić, who, as a former radical Serbian leader and Chetnik duke, does not hide his dreams about the borders of Greater Serbia at the expense of other South Slavic nations, even though he is also aware that these are only dreams today. But dreams can become reality again, if Nikolić continues to think so, as do many who support him and who voted for him, because then it is not about honest politics, but only about political acting for current needs. This book is therefore intended to remind how the idea of Greater Serbia came about, what are the key documents that are its foundation, and who were the main actors in designing and implementing that policy.
