Summary
Pavle Miljukov: History of Russia
This History of Russia resulted from the collaboration of several Russian historians who were driven from their homeland by a great disaster. It is a joint work of people skilled in historiography, who wanted to enable France to use their knowledge acquired in Russia. The one who, together with Mr. L. Esenman and me, conceived this work and led its creation, Mr. Milyukov, whose works on Russian society were already highly valued by historians, bears a name that today has become known throughout the world because of his statesmanship. He personally wrote a large number of parts of this work, often the most original and important, especially the chapters on the revolutionary crisis in the 20th century, which he witnessed and participated in as a participant. The authors of this work wanted to provide French readers with the results of studies carried out in Russia on archival documents, private diaries, memoirs and correspondence, studies that are mostly of recent date, little known in France and from which Russian history has been reconstructed.
