Stormy events, which XIX. century are so important for the creation of modern Europe and modern Croatia, they are presented in detail and thoughtfully in the first historical thematic unit in the book...
The second thematic unit deals with political thought and portraits of key figures, the organization of Croatian society and its changes, the role of the Church in that period, cultural and scientific institutions and associations, primary and secondary education, the institutionalization of education and culture, etc.
The third thematic unit is dedicated to language in literature and philology. In it, one can get a picture of the continuation of the traditional trilingualism of Croatian culture, which was expressed in Latin, the Old Slavonic of the Croatian redaction and the Croatian literary language.
The fourth thematic unit is dedicated to literature and theater. It covers the literary periods of pre-romanticism and romanticism, proto-realism and realism, and Croatian modernity.
The fifth thematic unit is dedicated to urban planning, architecture and fine arts. The architecture is characterized by classicism and romantic historicist styles in the first half of the century, eclectic styles in the second half and secession at the turn of the century... A component of fine art, art specific to the 19th century. century, is also represented by photography, which appeared in Croatia soon after its invention.
The sixth thematic unit is dedicated to music.
