Lujo Bakotić: Serbs in Dalmatia
Historical work that traces the journey of Dalmatian Serbs from the fall of the Venetian Republic to liberation and unification in 1918, based on contemporary documents and testimonies of participants. dr. Lujo Bakotić systematically presents key events and themes: political struggles in Dalmatia, the Rijeka and Zadar Resolutions, the annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Balkan Wars and finally the First World War, liberation and unification. A special chapter is devoted to Catholic Serbs. Let us mention only some names of already significant and well-known Serbian Catholics. Among them were Medo Pucić, Matija Ban, Dr. Ignjat Bakotić, Dr. Vlaho Matijević, prof. Niko Matijević, S. Kastrapeli, Marko and Mirko Kastrapeli, Dr. Antun Puljezi, Antun Fabris, Dr. Lovro Pavlović, Duke Ivan Stojanović, Don Jakob Grupković, Pero Budmani, Joso Mihaljević, Vinkentije Butijer, Jovo Metličić, Kažimir Luketić, Jovo Matačić, Ivo Ćipiko, Ante Monti and so many others, one better than the other in every respect. "Serbs in Dalmatia" shows how one community, often small in number and exposed to pressure from different administrations (Republic of Venice, Austria, France, Vatican), managed to preserve its identity and Serbian name.
