Jung Carl Gustav

Summary

Carl Gustav Jung: Aion

Aion, first published in Germany in 1951, is one of the major works of Jung's later years. The central theme of this book is the symbolic representation of psychic integrity through the concept of the Self, whose traditional historical equivalent is the figure of Christ. Jung demonstrates his theses through the study of the Allegorie Christi, especially the symbol of the fish, but also based on the study of Gnostic and alchemical symbolism, which he treats as a phenomenon of cultural assimilation. The first four chapters, on Ego, Shadow, Anima, and Animus, provide a valuable summary of these key concepts in Jung's psychological system."
