Summary
Ann Belford Ulanov, Barry Ulanov: Cinderella and her sisters - The Two Faces of Envy
Possessed in a nest of ashes, Cinderella is the embodiment of human despair. Her noble nature, present in the interior of her being, but also visible from the outside, is the reason for the envy of her cruel stepmother and ugly stepsisters. Using this famous story, Ann and Bary Ulanov explore the psychological and theological aspects of envy and kindness. In their interpretation of the fairy tale, they constantly move back and forth - from the inner life to the problems and themes that manifest themselves on the outside - from how the female and male aspects of the personality harmonize or do not harmonize to the way in which individuals decide on partner lives with people of the same or opposite sex. The book also deals with motives for conflict and competitiveness, but also for a harmonious common life.
