Moore Thomas

Summary

Thomas Moore: Planets in us

The astrological psychology of Marsilio Fichin Thomas Moore, philosopher, theologian, musicologist and archetypal psychotherapist, turns with this book to one of the most psychologically vibrant periods of the pre-modern era, the Italian Renaissance, in which a few genius individuals devoted themselves to the exploration of the inner world, no less revolutionary than the exploration of the outer world of the great sailors. Their adventures inspired the art of their time, but despite that they remained unknown, and their writings need to be interpreted in the right way only today. They discovered inner islands, passages and canals, sometimes even continents, drew maps, found methods for examining the inner life - methods that even today can give us a sense of where we are and where we came from, about the paths we need to take in order to reach the fertile and unexplored regions of the soul. The greatest among these researchers of the soul, their teacher, was Marsilio Ficino, who found in astrology the symbols of the inner life, its torments and its transformations, thus creating the art of imagination, which he considered an adequate remedy for the suffering soul. Moore guides the reader through the meanders of thought that would remain obscure without his help, and shows its secret meanings in clear and poetic language, waking up the reader's dormant imagination and conducting effective "soul care".
