Summary
Aleksandar Kožev: The concept of authority
"The concept of authority" was written in 1942, shortly before "Draft of the Phenomenology of Law" (1981), with which it is closely related. "It is an interesting fact that the problem and the concept of authority have been studied very little", notes Kožev in the introduction of what he calls a "short presentation". "The very essence of this phenomenon has rarely attracted attention." More than 70 years later, this claim remains valid, despite some significant contributions. This is why this attempt at philosophical clarification is very valuable. Kožev approaches the analysis of phenomena, developing four pure types of human authority, each of which corresponds to a certain theory: Father (Scholasticism), Master (Hegel), Leader (Aristotle), Judge (Plato). Combinations of these pure types represent concrete forms of authority.
