IŠTVANIĆ (Istvanich, Istwanych, Ištvanić), a noble family in Turopolj. From the second half. XVIII. family members settled in Velika Gorica. Juraj (mentioned around 1744) had sons Matija, Nikola and Ivan. The family belonged to Ivan, a foster child of the Croatian College in Vienna in 1776, who together with F. Milašinčić published Edmond Richer's work De Potestate Ecclesiastica Et Temporali Sive Declaratio Cleri Gallicani Anni 1682 (Vienna 1776), written in the spirit of reform Catholicism, along with which he printed a hundred of Miklošinčić's theses on church law that Ivan defended that year in a public debate in Zagreb.
