Each of us, Francis of Sales teaches, should live our faith fully where we are. "My spirit adheres to the instruction that we should not sow in our neighbor's field, no matter how beautiful it may be, if we should sow in our own. It is dangerous to have your heart in one place and your task in another."
In his "Filotea", Saleška addresses above all those who live in the world, in families, in the rush of work and life and therefore think that holiness is inaccessible to them. But the Saint writes: "Even if I were in the midst of human bustle, I could again be alone with my God." Piety in the world is more meritorious than flight from the world, but it should be adapted to the strength, opportunities and duties of each individual.
