Antonio Maria Sicari: Portraits of Saints

Among the members of the mystical Body of Christ, Antonio Maria Sicari chose ten witnesses who concretely realize the universal call of every Christian to holiness. These are humble saints like Camilo de Lellis, the parish priest of Ars, and Maria Goretti, they were often humiliated in the eyes of human "wisdom". Witnesses include Toma Mora, Maximilian Kolbe and Edith Stein, who overcame hatred with love; saints like Josip Benedikt Cottolengo and Ivan Bosco, who achieved a new creation and upbringing with merciful love in the face of need; a universal saint like Francis, whose presence more than any other reminds us of Christ's earthly presence; and the sufferer Benedikta Bianchi Porro, who is still waiting for church recognition, but whose testimony already shines for many believers. This only seems to be the product of some coincidence. The author's portraits show the glorious crown of Christ's holiness and the inexhaustible fertility of the Church.
