Summary
GORUP, Nikola, religious writer (Lipnik near Ozlja, 1713 - Krapina, 5. II. 1778). Priest, 1738–43. chaplain in Zlatar, 1743–47. pastor in Zabok and then in Krapina, where in 1747 he succeeded the Kajkavian writer S. Fuček. Under his leadership, in 1750, on Trško Vrh above Krapina, the construction of the Baroque Church of the Mother of God of Jerusalem began, where the statuette of the Mother of God of the Scapular is kept, which, according to local tradition, was brought from Jerusalem to Krapina in 1669 as a devotional memorial gift and greatly venerated there. Gorupov is probably (Doris Baričević) and the condensed Latin text of the monument of the church in Trškovo with names and information about the donors, painters and sculptors who decorated and furnished the interior of the church with a rich inventory. He is the author of the work Zercalo Mariansko kipa jeruzalemski vu Krapina (1768) in which, along with a historical account of the church and a historical-legendary description of the origin and worship of the miracle-working statue, he talks about the Carmelite Order and the Brotherhood of St. scapular and several Marian chants. He dedicated the work to the Bishop of Belgrade and Smederevo, Stjepan Puc (Pucz, Putz), reverend Zagreb Chapter. Without mentioning his name in the book, the dedicatory text was signed by "the most humble maid N.N.". Its authorship was established with certainty by A. A. Baričević in the bibliographic file Catalogus librorum Zagrabiae impressorum ordine chronologico (rkp.). The reference suggested by the title to Habdelić's Zercalo Mariansko (1662) is also evident in the common intention of promoting the veneration of Mary. raised scapular. Zagreb printed by Andras Besse purgaru klobuchar, per Anton Jandera factorem 1768.
