Summary

P. Miljenko Sušac s.m.m.: Life of St. Ljudevit M. G. Montfortski - Mary, Wisdom, the Cross, the Poor and Missions

"Reading this booklet represented a decisive turning point in my life. I said turning point, even though it was a long inner journey that coincided with a secret preparation for the priesthood. That's when I got hold of the Treatise on True Devotion to the Blessed Virgin, one of those books that is not enough to read once. I remember that for a long time I carried that book to the soda factory so that its beautiful cover became dirty. I always read its passages one after the other. While I used to shrink in fear that the devotion to the Blessed Virgin might get in the way of Jesus, in the light of the Discourse of St. Ljudevitus, I realized that the opposite was happening relationship to the Mother of God is known to be a kind of slavery to our contemporaries. As far as I am concerned, it is a kind of paradox that is often found in the Gospel, because we cannot use our freedom, the greatest gift that God has given us it doesn't have just one pious sign, it's not just an expression of simple piety: it's something more.
Thanks to St. Ljudevitus Montforski, I realized that true piety to the Mother of God is Christocratic, and deeply grounded in the mystery of the Holy Trinity, in the mysteries of the Incarnation and Redemption... I think that what I've said sufficiently explains the Marian piety of the current Pope and especially his complete dedication to Mary yours.“
- Pope John Paul II
