Added edition
The book Illyrian Serbia explores the theory of the existence of the Serbian state on the Helm Peninsula for more than seven centuries, in an area the authors call Illyrian Serbia. According to the authors, that state inherited state rights from the Western Roman Empire, its founder Markelin held the title of Roman emperor, and was recognized by the Eastern Roman (Roman) Empire. As the capital, Skadar has been mentioned for years.
The authors criticize contemporary historians' interpretations and state that there are debates and disagreements in the genealogical lines and chronologies of the rulers, and that the history of the Serbs has been deliberately reshaped in order to adapt to the dominant narratives.
