The collection Sisterhood and Unity interweaves academic and activist voices to shed light on more than three decades of lesbian activism in the (post)Yugoslav space. Contributions rich in empirical material point to a number of lesbian initiatives and the important - but rarely recognized - role that lesbian activists played in the articulation of a feminist response to the rise of nationalism, widespread violence against women, and lesbian/homophobia in all post-Yugoslav states.
