Summary
Taiyo Matsumoto: Sani 5
The grandchildren of the "Star Children" orphanage help us take a peek into the seventies of the last century, which Taijo Matsumoto realistically evokes by introducing characters from the Japanese pop culture of that time into the background, such as famous wrestlers, actors and singers.
The suffering of these children is palpable and real, the play and arguments between them do not stop, because all this is an integral part of growing up. Our heroes seem to mature faster by coming into close contact with life's injustice.
A typhoon approaches the orphanage, but Haruo, Kiko and friends have long been accustomed to internal hurricanes and storms that they fight with hope and love.
"That the 5th volume of Sani is touching, it is partly because of the unfair situations in which Haruna, Sei, Kenji, Haruo and Junsuke find themselves." With the short segment, where Makio recounts to the little girl what it's like when a child enters the orphanage for the first time and realizes that he will stay, Matsumoto hits a nerve. This very scene, dear readers, is the reason why this author deserves all the praise and why Sunny should be in your collection - as a sequential artistic and literary work of world significance."
