As a stylistic expression of the rising bourgeois class, Bidermaier appeared after the Napoleonic Wars and turbulent political turmoil in the countries of Central Europe between 1815 and 1848. It appears in architecture, urban planning, sculpture, painting, crafts, literature, music, fashion and photography.
