The book is at the same time a history of design, and it also contains biographies of the most famous designers in appendices, a chronology of the most significant events from 1850 to 1986, divided into six categories: scientific discoveries, technical and industrial innovations, design of objects, tools, furniture, etc., achievements in architecture, achievements in art that includes fine arts, literature, philosophy, film, and, finally, social economy and politics.
