Summary
– the first monograph
The significance of Miroslav Kraljević for Croatian modern art is known and emphasized many times. Although he died barely 27 years old (1885 – 1913) and organized only one solo exhibition in Salon Ulrich, he was still noticed as an important artistic phenomenon during his lifetime. This is evidenced by the monograph that was printed 5 years after his death, and which the author, Dr. Artur Schneider, begins with the words:
"The appearance of Miroslav pl. Kraljević is special in the history of our young fine arts. Unfortunately, due to his early death, which befell him at the age of twenty-seven, his artistic activity was limited to a short period of two or three years. But even in this short time, works were created that we can rightly count as among the best overall of our Kraljević is the first of our artists, who consciously and not only adopted the basic principles of modern art in an external way. These are Adoration of Beauty and Cocote.
The monograph was printed in four hundred numbered copies. The copy in the ALU Library is numbered 28.
