Aleksandar Freudenreich (Zagreb, November 21, 1892 – Zagreb, April 22, 1974) is one of the most productive Croatian architects of the 20th century. During his long life, he designed around five hundred buildings. It is assumed that he executed more than three hundred of them independently or in collaboration with other architects, some of which occupy an indispensable place in the framework of Croatian modernism. For half a century, he studied and collected sketches of folk architecture in all parts of Croatia, about which he published a whole series of professional articles and several books, the most important of which are: Prosvjetna ognjišta, Zagreb (1943), Narod gradi na goljelom kras Zagreb-Beograd (1962) and Kako narod gradi na Croatian, Zagreb (1972).
