The Mimara collection museum
The Mimara museum was created with the donation of the world-famous art collector Ante Topi%C4%87_Mimara and his wife Wiltrude Mimara, which is open to the public 1987 on Roosevelt Square in Zagreb. The full name of the museum is: Public Institution "Art Collection of Ante and Wiltrude Topić Mimara", but the statute of the museum allows the use of a shorter form of the name: Muzej Mimara. There are more than 3,750 works of art of great variety and exceptional artistic value, from antiquity and ancient Egyptian objects to paintings by great masters - Rafael, Velasqueza, Rubens and Rembrandt. Today, Mimara is Zagreb's main museum. The glass collection is an exceptional collection of artistic values of the glassmaking craft. Through more than 300 exhibited specimens, it follows the development path from ancient Egypt and the Roman Empire to famous Venetian and other European workshops. The Far Eastern art collection contains objects made from rare materials such as jade, lacquer and rhinoceros horn. The museum has a rich professional library with 5400 titles. A permanent exhibition designed as a chronological sequence of historical and stylistic periods. Thematic and studio exhibitions, as well as expertises and occasional educational games / workshops are organized regularly.
