Božo Majstorović: Permanent exhibition of the art gallery
The new permanent exhibition of the Art Gallery in Split was officially opened on May 9, 2009, and until the publication of its catalog in 2011, it was partially updated in the segment of recent art. The accompanying catalog of the permanent exhibition is a comprehensive publication of over 300 pages and with more than 388 reproductions of works of art and photographs of the interior and exterior of the Art Gallery. It provides a catalog list of all processed works that are in the permanent exhibition, and a selection from the bibliography is listed for each artist (the authors of the catalog and selection from the bibliography are Jasminka Babić, Davor Jurjević, Božo Majstorović, Ivana Prijatelj Pavičić and Iris Slade). The catalog follows the introductory overview text of the museum advisor Božo Majstorović on the history of the Gallery, from the First Dalmatian Art Exhibition in Split in 1908, the establishment of the Gallery in 1931, through two phases of renovation, until its opening in 2009 in the reconstructed and extended building of the old Split hospital. Božo Majstorović's text also provides an overview through the history of art, from paintings from the collections of old masters and icons to sculptures and paintings by Croatian artists from the beginning of the 20th century, which are representative of the gallery fund. The text of the publication is bilingual, in Croatian and English. For the catalog of the permanent exhibition, the Jury of the Croatian Museum Society awarded Boži Majstorović the HMD Annual Award in the category of publishing activities.
