Luna 1841.

A very rare magazine!

One of the first magazines published in Zagreb was "Agramer Zeitschrift", a magazine in German, better known as "Luna". Under this title, it began to be published on July 1, 1826, and initially had a mainly news-informative character, but from 1828 it was separated into the magazine "Luna: Untterhaltungsblatt" and the informative-political paper "Agramer Zeitschrift", which changed its name to "Agramer politische Zeitung" in 1830. In the beginning, Franz S. Stauduar and Friedrich Rosenau were mentioned as publishers and editors, and from 1841, after Rosenauer's death, only F. S. Stauduar, and Guido Polz had a significant part in editing "Luna" from 1850 to 1853.
"Luna" itself, although it was a magazine in German, occasionally gave space to articles on Croatian history, such as and texts by Croatian authors in the Croatian language, so Tomo Mikloušić and Ljudevit Gaj published smaller poetic works in the Croatian Kajkavian language in it (he published three Kajkavian poems and two translations from German in "Luna"). However, Croatian contributions were not welcome in "Luna" due to the editor's attitude that it is first and foremost a German newspaper.
It is interesting to mention that "Luna" was first printed in the printing house of Franjo Suppan (Zupana), who also played a significant role in the Illyrian movement, and since 1844 "Luna" has been printed in Gaje's printing house.
