Summary
Martha Nussbaum: The Fragility of Goodness
Happiness and Ethics in Greek Tragedy and Philosophy
This book is an exploration of the view of "moral fate". It examines the basic ethical problem according to which many valuable components of a good life are vulnerable to factors beyond the control of the personality and raises the question of how this affects the evaluation of the personality and their lives. Greeks have contributed deeply to these issues, but neither the issues nor the Greek viewpoints have received the attention they deserve. In this book, therefore, the main dimension of Greek thought is renewed and points to the main questions of ethical theory. One of its most original aspects is the procedure that brings literary and philosophical texts into a mutual relationship.
