Summary
Jose Ortega y Gasset: Meditations on Quixote
Meditation on Quixote is a book that teaches the reader to read meditatively and prepares him to face the author's main preoccupation with the philosophical question of the salvation of Spain. The author points out that the lack of meditation is a problem that follows Spain and that compared to the Germanic people, the Mediterranean culture is superficial and shallow without the depth and results of Germanic science. Ortega investigates the role of opportunities and perspectives in human life and draws his conclusions, and at the same time deals with Cervantes' Don Quixote - the Spanish model as an excuse to achieve his main goal - the presentation of a new metaphysics of human life.
