Ortega y Gasset Jose

Summary

Jose Ortega y Gasset: Varia I

Ortega was one of the most famous Spanish philosophers with many followers in Europe and the world. This volume of his selected works was intended to collect the most important discussions that were published in eight volumes of the famous Observer (El Espectador). The idea was to collect texts that, due to their volume, cannot be included in four thematically organized volumes of his selected works (philosophical, aesthetic, sociological and political writings), which have already been published in our edition, but which very much deserve to be translated into our language. The philosophy that unites all the discussions in the Observer manages to maintain the unity of that work, despite the incredible variety of topics that Ortega deals with in it. There are stories and travelogues, literary studies, discussions dedicated to art, philosophical discussions, historical and political commentaries, etc. The discussions that make up the Observer, like all of Ortega's writings in general, are characterized by independence and independence, but they are all based on a very precise philosophical teaching or way of interpreting reality. The observer is, in a way, Ortega's most characteristic work: it is characterized by apparent dispersion, an inexhaustible variety of themes and stimuli, direct insights into reality, verbal talent and metaphoricality. Again, behind what is seen at first glance, we find an extraordinarily coherent and unique thought, under whose auspices all the pieces of the puzzle fit together, thus creating a whole, which cannot now be said to be organic, but strictly systematically arranged.
