Summary
Dalibor Paulik: Croatian opera libretto
History, structure and European context
,
Paulik understands the libretto as a special kind of drama, which is specific in that it is in an indiscernible communion with extra-literary components of the opera spectacle, above all with music. This predetermines his analysis of individual works, in which both the libretto text and the musical score are always equally taken into account. Based on this corpus of librettist works and relying on the commented methodology, the author clearly indicated in his book the
historical development of Croatian librettist, placing it in the broader context of the national opera tradition and European librettist.
