Summary
Donna Leon: Acqua alta
Commissario Brunetti's fifth case
Rarely anyone in the police was very upset when Brett Lynch, a well-known lesbian and a foreigner at that, was brutally beaten by two well-dressed men on the doorstep of her Venetian apartment. But the whole of Venice was stirred up when two days later the distinguished patron of the museum, Doctor Semenzano, was killed. Only Brunetti saw the connection between the beating of Brett Lynch and this murder: both of them were working to set up a famous exhibition of Chinese antiquities. And when the ball began to unravel, not even the record-breaking Venetian tide - acqua alta - would stop the killers from committing another murder. Can it work for Brunetti?
