Summary
Maksim Cristan: Bemteumozak
What happens when someone suddenly "drops everything and does only what he wants and what suits him"?
Maksim Cristan was once a successful businessman. He seemed to be walking towards a future "reserved only for the lucky few". Until the day when something inside him broke and he "disconnected" his entire life up to that point.
Boarding the first train that left Zagreb, he arrived in Milan. Without knowing the language, without money, accommodation or a plan of how and what to do next. He knew only one thing: it was crucial that he only do what "he wants and what suits him". Despite his fears and doubts, he had to discover his only true path.
Maxim lived on the streets and squares of Milan for several years. He got to know hunger and cold, and the limits of his own endurance, persistence and resourcefulness. Over time, he also recognized his need for writing, which he sacrificed for a long time to success, money and social rules. Having all the time in the world and writing... Can it get any better? This realization led him to learn the Italian language himself, become a street writer and support himself by selling booklets from his own work.
He describes his experiences and adventures in the witty, provocative and bittersweet story BEMTEUMOZAK, translated into Croatian by Planetopia. One after the other, episodes with vivid characters follow. There are homeless people, artists, transvestites, scavengers, waiters... But also angels in human form who are proof that goodness appears when you least expect it.
The book was originally published in Italy under the title (Fanculopensiero) in 2007, published by the well-known Italian publishing house Feltrinelli. So far, it has had five editions and achieved considerable success in Italy.
