Summary
Ghjacumu Thiers: The White Station
At the time Thiers started writing, thirty-five years ago, the Corsican language was in the process of extinction. Since then, thanks to the stubborn resistance of mostly cultural circles, the situation has changed significantly and he becomes a professor of Corsican language and literature at the University of Corti. Thiers' poetry is characterized by Mediterranean clarity, cheerfulness and melancholy. The insular character of the country melts into his verses with vivid colors, shapes and smells in an atmosphere of wise drunkenness of the senses.
