Summary
Patricia Cornwell: Fronta
When Patricia Cornwell presented the murderous, shrewd style and incredible characters of the novel "In Danger", critics began to widely praise that novel as the author's best so far and to celebrate it as the work of a master of the genre at the peak of her creative power. Her most famous work was a series of legendary works about the forensic scientist Kay Scarpetta, but the novel "In Danger" took a different direction, retaining some good old habits, of course.
With unrivaled characterization, perfect detailing, precise research, a tense story and unavoidable forensics, she created a fun and intriguing novel, and that's exactly what its sequel - "Fronta" will be like.
"Fronta" brings us back. already known characters: there is the state investigator Win Garano, a shrewd man with no small dislike for the world, Monique Lamont, a public prosecutor with expressed political ambitions and Garano's grandmother who possesses certain talents that you better not ignore.
Lamontica will try to start an initiative that should reduce the crime rate in residential areas (No neighbor will be forgotten), and she has a special task for Garano. He will be sent to Watertown to help the local police solve a murder case, but the real reason for his transfer will remain known only to her.
Garano is quite skeptical, since he is aware that Watertown is the headquarters of a coalition of police departments, more popularly known as FRONTA, which is organized in such a way that it does not depend too much on state control, which, of course, does not make Lamontica very happy. Garano feels that there is something much more serious going on, but he has no idea of the exact scale. As time goes on and things get entangled, Lamontica's task for Garan begins to resemble a journey through a house of mirrors - wherever he turns, he is not sure if what he sees is really real or just an illusion.
Woven in the unmistakable style of an author whose books are adored by hordes of loyal readers, this novel will find its place in many libraries. And what is hidden behind the Front - you will never guess.
Patricia Daniels Cornwell appeared suddenly like a meteor. She received numerous literary awards for her bestsellers, and today she is considered one of the most famous writers of detective novels.
There is not much information about her life. She worked for six years as a computer expert in the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in the State of Virginia.
Her first book, "A Time for Remembering" is a biography of Ruth Bell Graham. The first detective novel "The Autopsy" (1990) became famous very quickly, and in just one year it received the Edgar Award and three other significant literary awards. For the novel "Sa sirotinjsko groblja" (1995), the film rights were immediately purchased, and Patricia Cornwell accepted to write the screenplay.
The same characters run through all her novels. First of all, Dr. Kay Scarpetta, then her constant companion, police lieutenant Pete Marino, and FBI criminal psychology expert Benton Wesley. There is also her niece Lucy, and to a much lesser extent Mark, Kay's great love. The beginning of each novel is colored in similar colors. The sharp sound of the phone breaks through the rain or into the foggy dawn shrouded in inexplicable heaviness and gloom. Dr. Kay Scarpetta takes her bag and heads to the crime scene. Somewhere on the way or at the scene of the crime illuminated by the blinding lights of police cars, Kay meets her shadow, the always grumpy police lieutenant Marin.
The appearance of female detectives, as well as the fact that more and more women write good detective novels, is recent. Patricia Cornwell has managed to offer readers excellently structured novels that we read with the joy of recognition. Regardless of the fact that they are about a distant world of mass murderers and computer games, a world where murders happen - not only in the imagination.
