Summary
Sunjeev Sahota: Year of the Refugees
Narinder, Randeep, Avtar and Tochi are young Indians from different walks of life whose destinies are intertwined in Sheffield, in the north of England. Everyone is brought to the edge in some way, each to his own, but they are determined not to cross it. At the cost of a difficult and long-lasting, physical or mental journey to the destination: a happier and freer life. Sahota's different, fuller view of some of the problems of immigrants was shortlisted for the 2015 Man Booker Prize and won the prestigious South Bank Sky Arts Award for Literature as well as the Encore Award. In 2017, he received the EU Prize for Literature. In short: a masterpiece.
