Summary
Roger Zelazny: Lord of Light
Roger Zelazny (1937-1995), is one of the founders of the American new wave in science fiction. He began publishing stories in Amazing Stories magazine in 1962, the same year he received his master's degree in English from Columbia University. Over the next five years, he developed into a noted writer, sometimes publishing under the pseudonym Harrison Denmark. In 1965, he received the Nebula award. This is followed by the first Hugo award in 1966 for the novel Ovaj besmrtnik, and again the Hugo award in 1968 for the novel Lord of Light (first published in 1967), considered by many to be his best work. In 1969, his novel Alley of Damnation was published, which was used in a movie of the same name in 1977. During the 1970s, he increasingly turned to writing fiction (the Amber Chronicle series), although he never abandoned science fiction, and for shorter novels and stories, he received HUGO and NEBULA awards in 1976 and HUGO awards in 1982, 1986 and 1987.
