Reşat Nuri Güntekin (1889-1956) is the best Turkish prose writer, author of numerous novels, short stories and poems. He gained world fame precisely with the novel Grmuša, first published in 1923, which immediately became very popular, and later became one of the most important works of Turkish literature.
