Summary
Ursula Le Guin: The Tombs of Atuan
The second part of the Earthsea series is about the girl Tenar, who becomes the new priestess of the deity Nameless. In doing so, he will put all the precious things in his life to the test, even his name. Because she becomes Archa, guardian of the ominous Tombs of Atuan. At the same time, the young wizard Ged arrives in the dark labyrinths of the tombs, who will try to steal the Tomb's greatest treasure - the ring of Eret-Akbe. This is a story about trust, maturing and accepting responsibility for taking the course of one's own destiny into one's own hands. In the darkness of these intertwined corridors, through which one can wander forever towards self-knowledge, finding faith in oneself and keeping hope for the existence of good in the world becomes the only light that will light the way to the surface. Ursula le Guin's masterful stylistic skill and brilliant creative vision illustrate the power that beliefs can have, but also where the limit is after which we must begin to question them.
