Summary
William Shakespeare: Hamlet
The main idea of Hamlet is the story of the Danish king Hamlet who seeks revenge against his uncle who killed his father and married his mother and took the throne. In order to succeed in his intention, he pretends to be crazy. But Shakespeare further complicates the plot, confronting the reader with numerous doubts; did Hamlet really see his father's ghost, does his mother bear the blame for his father's murder, is Ophelia's death a coincidence or suicide. Thus, the tragedy acquires additional meaning because moral questions are raised, such as the most important one: does Hamlet have the right to kill the king and thus avenge his father?
