Mary Karr: Junf
Written in the first person singular, with a considerable amount of (black) humor, the novel tells about the psychological and physical awakening of a young person and the different kinds of experiences that accompany her growing up and maturing. The main character is Mary Karr (!), who, living like other teenagers, will experience authorities in various forms on her way to "discovering unspeakable truths" about the world and herself, the longing of first love, the excitement of initial sexual experiences, but also the dark side of American reality, and even the bitterness of being in a prison cell... The novel achieved enormous success in 2000 and was declared the best book in numerous reputable newspapers.
