Summary
Joseph O'Connor: Cowboys and Indians
Eddie Virago, the proud owner of the last Mohican in Dublin, after completing his studies in literature, sets out for London to pursue a career in music. Despite seasickness aggravated by alcohol, on the ferry he becomes close to Marion, a mysterious and peculiar girl from Northern Ireland, who claims to be going to London in search of work. Without a concrete plan, they end up at the Brightside Hotel, run by a striking Indian, Mr. Patel. Although it seems that both of them have started a new life, their past does not give them peace, and they also encounter obstacles that arise due to the differences between the environments they came from. Cowboys and Indians is a humorous and at the same time incisive chronicle of a period and social reality, and its unpredictability keeps the reader riveted to the book until the last page.
